Are You Jelly?

Are You Jelly?

If you had told me a few years ago that jelly shoes would be one of the biggest trends of the summer, I would have laughed.

And yet… here we are.

As an 80s kid, I remember wanting a pair of jellies so badly. They were the shoe. When I finally got a pair, I wore them everywhere—even though they gave me blisters that would probably be considered a health hazard today. Somehow, the squeaking, sweating, and blistering were all worth it.

Thankfully, jelly shoes have grown up.

Today’s versions are softer, more comfortable, more stylish, and surprisingly chic. From fisherman sandals and Mary Janes to designer slides and elevated flats, the jelly trend has evolved far beyond the colorful plastic shoes we grew up with.

I’ve rounded up my favorite jelly styles of the season—from affordable finds to designer splurges.

My Favorite Jelly Shoes Right Now

Sam Edelman Bay JELLYy Slide

The easiest entry point into the trend. A jelly version of one of Sam Edelman’s best-selling sandals that’s comfortable, versatile, and beach-friendly.

Sam Edelman Michaela Jelly Mary Jane

A little nostalgic, a little fashion-girl. The Mary Jane silhouette keeps it classic while the bright red jelly makes a statement.

Dolce Vita Jam FLAT

One of the chicest jelly styles I’ve found. The tortoise finish makes it feel polished, sophisticated, and surprisingly wearable.

Dolce Vita Ginna Flat

Part fisherman sandal, part jelly shoe. The whiskey color makes this trend feel elevated and easy to style.

Free People Nola Jelly Mary Jane

The pair that instantly takes me back. Playful, fun, and perfect with dresses, denim, and summer basics.

Loeffler Randall Rhys Jelly Sandal

A jelly sandal with champagne glitter? Yes, please. These are vacation-ready and surprisingly elegant.

Loeffler Randall Dana Jelly Sandal

A minimalist take on the trend. Simple, chic, and one of the most wearable jelly sandals I’ve seen this season.

Ancient Greek Sandals Iro Shells

Not technically a jelly, but it captures the same playful spirit with translucent straps and shell details.

Tory Burch Mellow Mary Jane Jelly

One of the most elevated interpretations of the trend. Classic, polished, and very Tory.

Melissa Possession Sandal

The original icon. Before everyone else was making jelly shoes, there was Melissa.

CCOCCI Jelly Woven Slip-On

A Dear Lucy favorite. The woven texture and bright blue color make this one a fun, affordable way to try the trend.

Gucci Women’s Sandal with Double G

The ultimate jelly splurge. Proof that even Gucci couldn’t resist this trend.

So… Am I Jelly?

Honestly? A little.

Not because I want to relive the blisters of the 1980s, but because this new generation of jelly shoes is actually good. They’re comfortable, playful, practical, and perfect for beach days, vacations, poolside afternoons, and everyday summer outfits.

The little girl who begged for a pair of jellies would be thrilled.

The adult version of me is just happy they finally figured out how to make them comfortable.
