I spent the day walking King Street—popping in and out of stores, trying things on, and doing what I always do: editing.
Not everything is worth buying.
But some things are.
This is exactly what I’d leave with.
SKIMS
Not the most exciting stop—but probably the most important.
This is where I’d start:
- a good everyday bra
- underwear that actually disappears under clothes
If these aren’t right, nothing else you buy that day is going to feel as good as it should.
Hunter Bell
This is where I slow down.
The dresses here feel right for Charleston—polished, but still easy. I’d look for something I can wear all day and into dinner without changing.
If I’m buying one dress on King Street, it’s probably from here.
Hill House
This is the opposite energy—more relaxed, more throw-on.
The kind of dress you don’t have to think about, but still looks put together. Something I can wear walking around all day and not feel overdressed or underdressed.
Loeffler Randall
This is where I’d go for shoes and a bag—because these are the pieces that actually pull everything together.
I wouldn’t overbuy here.
One good sandal and one bag that works with everything is enough.
Sézane
This is my stop if I don’t want a dress.
A really good blouse—something with detail, something that makes denim feel more styled. It’s the easiest way to look put together without committing to a full outfit.
The Extras
This is where I’m picky.
A scarf, a small accessory—something that adds personality without overcomplicating things. You don’t need much, but the right piece makes everything feel finished.
What I’d Actually Leave With
If I had to narrow it down, I’d leave King Street with:
- one great dress
- one pair of sandals I can walk in all day
- one crossbody bag
- a better set of basics
- A fun little treat like a candle or a cute martini glass set.
That’s it.
The Reality
There’s a lot on King Street. It’s easy to get caught up in what looks good in the moment.
But the pieces worth buying are the ones you’ll wear tomorrow… and the next day… and the next.
That’s always how I decide.
